Revenue executionDeal inspectionManager coaching

Don’t learn the acronym. Run the deal.

MEDDPICC becomes useful when it changes what a rep captures, what a manager inspects, and what the team does next.

This lab teaches MEDDPICC as an evidence system. You will see what “good” looks like, how to document it in CRM, how to activate it in a live opportunity, and how managers should coach the gaps.

01 / SEE ITRecognize the signal.
02 / CAPTURE ITPut evidence in CRM.
03 / ACTIVATE ITCreate customer movement.
04 / COACH ITInspect the risk.
05 / PROVE ITUse observable evidence.

CASE FILE / NORTHSTAR SYSTEMS

The deal looks healthy. The evidence says otherwise.

Start where a real forecast inspection starts: not with the acronym, but with the evidence you actually have.

01

The VP of Security attends every call and says the platform is the preferred option.

02

A board audit creates real urgency this quarter.

03

Procurement “usually takes about two weeks.”

04

The CFO has never joined a conversation.

05

A competitor is already installed in one business unit.

YOUR FIRST INSPECTION

What should you pressure-test first?

THE MEDDPICC EXECUTION SYSTEM

Every letter has to survive contact with CRM and the field.

Use the left-hand lens to choose the MEDDPICC element. Then use the controls to move from understanding → CRM capture → deal activation → manager coaching → strong evidence.

Rep view: focus on what evidence to create next and what belongs in CRM.

Metrics

Turn the problem into measurable business impact that the customer recognizes.

HAPPY EARS / WEAK SIGNAL“They want to improve efficiency.”

ACTIVATION / HOW IT LIVES IN THE BUSINESS

MEDDPICC should move through the operating system—not sit in a course.

The methodology becomes valuable when evidence flows into the tools and cadences where real decisions happen.

01Discovery

Create hypotheses around pain, metrics, authority, process, and alternatives. Do not pretend early hypotheses are validated evidence.

02CRM

Capture structured evidence, owners, dates, and gaps. CRM should make uncertainty visible—not hide it behind green fields.

03Deal review

Stress-test what changed since the last inspection and identify which MEDDPICC element is still assumption-heavy.

04Forecast

Connect forecast confidence to evidence quality, customer milestones, and specific events that could move the deal.

05MAP

Turn Decision Process and Paper Process into shared milestones, owners, dependencies, and dates.

06Manager coaching

Coach the next evidence-creating action instead of repeating “get more MEDDPICC.”

07Win / loss

Inspect which evidence was real, which assumptions survived too long, and what the team should reinforce next.

PUTTING MEDDPICC INTO CRM

The fields should mature as the deal matures.

A common failure is forcing every field to green too early. Instead, define what good evidence looks like by stage and raise the standard as the opportunity progresses.

Discovery / Diagnose

DEAL HEALTH / EVIDENCE COVERAGE

Build the deal from evidence, not optimism.

Mark only the MEDDPICC elements that you can support with customer evidence. The output prioritizes the gaps most likely to create forecast risk.

HAPPY EARS DETECTOR

Does it sound good—or can you prove it?

Classify the statement as evidence or assumption. This is the habit MEDDPICC is supposed to build.

1 / 6 0 correct

“Budget shouldn’t be a problem.”

FIELD KIT / USE IT TOMORROW

Give the field language they can actually use.

These are intentionally short enough to paste into a manager agenda, Slack thread, CRM note, or opportunity review.

MANAGER 1:1

Deal inspection prompt

What evidence changed since our last review? Which MEDDPICC element is still an assumption? What customer action would create the strongest new evidence before our next inspection?

CHAMPION TEST

Access prompt

To make sure we are building this around the right business outcomes, would you help us get 30 minutes with the person who ultimately owns the investment decision? We will keep it focused on impact, priorities, and the decision path.

CRM HYGIENE

Evidence standard

Do not write “procurement in progress.” Capture the procurement owner, required reviews, signature threshold, current step, expected cycle time, and next dated milestone.

HOW I TEACH IT

Methodology should change behavior—not decorate Salesforce.

My standard is simple: understand the move, practice it, prove readiness, and inspect whether it shows up in live business execution.
