Metrics
Turn the problem into measurable business impact that the customer recognizes.
MEDDPICC becomes useful when it changes what a rep captures, what a manager inspects, and what the team does next.
This lab teaches MEDDPICC as an evidence system. You will see what “good” looks like, how to document it in CRM, how to activate it in a live opportunity, and how managers should coach the gaps.
CASE FILE / NORTHSTAR SYSTEMS
Start where a real forecast inspection starts: not with the acronym, but with the evidence you actually have.
The VP of Security attends every call and says the platform is the preferred option.
A board audit creates real urgency this quarter.
Procurement “usually takes about two weeks.”
The CFO has never joined a conversation.
A competitor is already installed in one business unit.
YOUR FIRST INSPECTION
THE MEDDPICC EXECUTION SYSTEM
Use the left-hand lens to choose the MEDDPICC element. Then use the controls to move from understanding → CRM capture → deal activation → manager coaching → strong evidence.
Turn the problem into measurable business impact that the customer recognizes.
ACTIVATION / HOW IT LIVES IN THE BUSINESS
The methodology becomes valuable when evidence flows into the tools and cadences where real decisions happen.
Create hypotheses around pain, metrics, authority, process, and alternatives. Do not pretend early hypotheses are validated evidence.
Capture structured evidence, owners, dates, and gaps. CRM should make uncertainty visible—not hide it behind green fields.
Stress-test what changed since the last inspection and identify which MEDDPICC element is still assumption-heavy.
Connect forecast confidence to evidence quality, customer milestones, and specific events that could move the deal.
Turn Decision Process and Paper Process into shared milestones, owners, dependencies, and dates.
Coach the next evidence-creating action instead of repeating “get more MEDDPICC.”
Inspect which evidence was real, which assumptions survived too long, and what the team should reinforce next.
PUTTING MEDDPICC INTO CRM
A common failure is forcing every field to green too early. Instead, define what good evidence looks like by stage and raise the standard as the opportunity progresses.
DEAL HEALTH / EVIDENCE COVERAGE
Mark only the MEDDPICC elements that you can support with customer evidence. The output prioritizes the gaps most likely to create forecast risk.
HAPPY EARS DETECTOR
Classify the statement as evidence or assumption. This is the habit MEDDPICC is supposed to build.
FIELD KIT / USE IT TOMORROW
These are intentionally short enough to paste into a manager agenda, Slack thread, CRM note, or opportunity review.
What evidence changed since our last review? Which MEDDPICC element is still an assumption? What customer action would create the strongest new evidence before our next inspection?
To make sure we are building this around the right business outcomes, would you help us get 30 minutes with the person who ultimately owns the investment decision? We will keep it focused on impact, priorities, and the decision path.
Do not write “procurement in progress.” Capture the procurement owner, required reviews, signature threshold, current step, expected cycle time, and next dated milestone.
HOW I TEACH IT
My standard is simple: understand the move, practice it, prove readiness, and inspect whether it shows up in live business execution.
